The Hackensaw Boys

You see them in the early hours of the morning walking hotel corridors, or boldly traversing rush hour streets. They are sincere, polite but talkative men with instrument cases. They admire the local scenery and appear unfed. After seven years of relentless touring throughout the US, Europe and the U.K., the Hackensaw Boys are being recognized as one of the most exciting groups on the diverse Americana music scene. Be sure to check out the Hackensaw Boys — the perfect anodyne for the aches and pains of modern life. hackensawboys.com

Cherryholmes

With their roots based in bluegrass, Celtic, and jazz music, Cherryholmes has stormed to the top of the music world since winning the 2005 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Award for Entertainer of the Year. Their self-titled debut album on Skaggs Family Records in 2006 received their first Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album, and their second Grammy-nominated album "Black And White" came in at No. 1 on Billboard's Bluegrass Album Chart.  Cherryholmes' latest album, "Don't Believe" garnered them their third and fourth Grammy nominations for Best Bluegrass Album, and crossed them over into the Best Country Instrumental Performance category for the track, "Sumatra."

bca_LauraReed.jpgLaura Reed

Laura Reed's South African roots have helped her absorb a diverse range of musical influences.  They range from North American soul/R&B/funk/jazz to South African Xhosa harmonies and township music, to Brazilian Bossa Nova and samba. Her music is a personal reflection and fusion of these different styles, languages, and cultures with a huge dose of positivity. www.laurareed.com

The Yonrico Scott Band

Longtime Derek Trucks Band Drummer Scott is the band leader of this group, also featuring Derek Truck alumnus Todd Smallie. Although Yonrico played with the Grammy winning dTb for well over a decade, his musical experience predates that considerably. His credits are stunning, as he has performed with Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Santana, Phil Lesh, Peabo Bryson, Mose Allison, Widespread Panic and a virtual who's who of the rock, soul, jazz and R&B world. They bring a solid and funky foundation for Laura's soulful sultry vocals. www.yonricoscott.com

DJ Williams Projekt

No, he's not a DJ, that is his name! The DJ Williams Projekt, hailing from Richmond, VA, is probably one of the fastest rising bands on the scene right now. When you combine a tight groovin' rhythm section, sweet horn lines, and an amazing guitar player player who plays with honest to God soul, you've got yourself a solid winner when it comes to entertaining a crowd. Complex or simple, Williams's lines become funk chops, picking up speed one minute and slamming a 180 on a dime the next with the "Projekt" backing it up all along and enhancing the ride. The band  is best described as "a soulful ensemble of jazz, on a melodic R&B vibe, laced with a grooved down hip hop back beat." djwilliamsmusic.com

Folk Soul Revival

Folk Soul Revival is an upbeat, rootsy acoustic group from the mountains of Appalachia. Their diversity, creativity and passion is evident among those who have witnessed the boys hone their craft onstage. With their distinct vocal approaches, back-porch instrumentation, haunting four-part harmonies and sheer talent, the boys have garnered much success and have attracted a large following. www.myspace.com/folksoulrevival

Butch Robins' Imagicnation

Hailing from the Celtic descended southeastern US, Butch has established himself as an instrumental innovator and explorer. Described by Tony Trischka as a musical chameleon, Butch’s musical diversity was further evidenced in the Bluegrass world by his opposite ends of the spectrum inclusion as banjoist for Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys and bassist for the New Grass Revival. As one of the busiest of Nashville’s freelance banjo players, Butch played live performances with such musical giants as Leon Russell and Harry James. The turn of the century signaled a transition from the “introverted master of an extroverted instrument” to performer/entertainer and teacher. Most recently Butch has formed a new ensemble, Butch Robins’ Imagicnation.  Butch is joined by Tom Ohmsen (Mandolin), Kris Hodges (Drums, Percussion and Vocals) and John McBroom (Bass and Vocals) for his next Imagicnation. myspace.com/butchrobins
